I actually started Corporate Image before I left channel 5. I always knew I wanted to try to build something. I realized very early, the key is surrounding yourself with great people. To say I’ve been blessed is an understatement. We employ about a dozen people. This is behind our building when had a cookout some years ago.
You’ve seen Lisa and Nelson’s dog - now meet Forest - Sam’s dog!
Nelson also adopted a dog from a shelter. This is Braxton - a Great Dane mix. He’s a gentle giant!
Dogs have almost always been part of my life, but not Lisa’s! Six years ago she got her first dog - Lu. We got him from a shelter and he was a handful! Now, he’s just part of the family.
Sam and I made a pact long ago. If we pass a Krispy Kreme - and the “hot doughnuts” sign is on - we have to stop. This is about a decade ago.
A decade ago, I took Nelson to visit the capitol and meet then Governor Haslam. They spent some time loooking through his office to find a trap door that was built in the civil war to get the Governor out in the event the Capitol was attacked.
I’m incredibly proud of Lisa. After raising Sam and Nelson, she went back into the workforce. She’s a Realtor, but her passion is helping others. I think that’s how she sees her role in real estate.
She’s an active volunteer and board member at Isaiah 117 and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).
Lisa and I “won the lottery” with Sam and Nelson (this is not a recent picture). This was taken on a visit to Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs.
When my dad retired, we moved to the Springs. Kind of ironic as a Navy veteran - I graduated from Air Academy high school - on the grounds of the academy.
During my time in the Navy, my family could join me a few times. Here, we’re aboard the USS Ronald Reagan. Probably 20 years ago. I was the OIC of the homeporting of the newly christened carrier.
The most important part of my life - family. This was taken just after Nelson was accepted to the College of Charleston (4 years and two degrees) nearly a decade ago. And yes, Sam had spikey hair!
Some of you, who are old enough, will remember NBC’s Jim Miklaszewski. During my time in the Navy, I ran into him a great deal in the Pentagon. I was honored to serve. I worked for one Secretary of Defense (Rumsfeld) and two Chairman of the Joint Chiefs.
Note: it’s not our anniversary! I’m posting personal stories because of a campaign opponent, and family, that want to try to redefine who I am.
I met Lisa about three weeks after I moved here. We’ve now been married 34 years (our anniversary is in March).
Thanks to the Counry Officials Association of Tennessee!
Grant relaxing before the trip home! Thanks, Kim Coleman Summers!
Coffee and a Twinkie - tough to beat!
So cool - you can even see Grant!
It’s game day! Go Navy - crush Army
Grant is at the capitol!
I’m (truly) colorblind, but even so, East Tennessee looks great!
Always good to spend time with our governor.
